Veterans Day, formerly Armistice Day, is observed Nov. 11, the anniversary of the armistice that ended World War in 1918. It honors all veterans of all armed services. Observances have been scheduled as follows:
American Legion Boyle Post 46
American Legion Post 46, Sons of American Legion, will host a Veterans Day chili supper at 6 p.m. for Post members Tuesday at the Post at 45 Spears Lane.
The Casey County Veterans Day ceremony will be near the doughboy statue in front of the Casey County Courthouse in downtown Liberty "at the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month." The speaker will be retired Navy Chief Petty Officer Dewayne Duncan, pastor of Liberty United Methodist Church.
The CCHS band also will host at Veterans Day service at 1 p.m. at Gate Way Park community center.
A veteran's program will begin 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Garrard Middle School. It is open to all veterans. Students will provide lunch. Veteran's will speak during several 15-minute sessions after 1 p.m. Call Donna Snyder or Peggy Couch, (859) 792-2108, for more information.
