An state inmate at the Boyle County Detention Center was still at-large this morning after he escaped from a work detail early Monday afternoon.
Gary Dale Haynes, 29, of 7517 Plum Creek Way, Burlington, was working with a crew of fellow inmates assigned to the Kentucky State Department of Highways on U.S. 127 about 12:30 p.m. when he was seen hopping into a gray, king cab pickup truck with Ohio license plates. The get-away vehicle contained a male driver and female passenger.
Haynes is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 194 pounds. He has black hair, in a buzz cut, and blue eyes, and he has a tattoo on his right, upper arm. At the time of his escape he was wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.
After being notified of Haynes' escape, detention center officials alerted the Danville Police Department, Kentucky State Police at the Richmond post and the media.
