Crum hearing rescheduled

November 11, 2003

HARRODSBURG - A second status hearing was set for Kevin Paul Crum Monday afternoon after his attorney failed to appear for the scheduled morning session.

Crum is charged with six counts of attempted murder, three illegal weapons charges and a trespassing. He was arrested Aug. 30 after police here were notified by a Corning security guard that a man had parked his car in the Corning lot and was removing weapons from his vehicle.

At an arraignment in mid-October, Crum's attorneys, James Lowry and Jerry Wright, failed to attend the morning session, but were present at an afternoon session to declare they are Crum's attorneys. Crum was represented briefly in that session by a court-appointed attorney. Crum was scheduled for a status hearing Monday.

Scott Hayworth, an associate of Lowry, appeared briefly Monday afternoon for a status hearing. He said he did not think the prosecution had turned over all of its evidence. Commonwealth's Attorney Richard Bottoms said there may be one recording of Crum that was left to be given to his defense team.
