Danville senior Alex Gash has been named the player of the year in the White Division of the Central Kentucky Soccer Conference.

The division is comprised of Danville and Anderson, Lincoln and Marion counties.

Gash was joined by teammates Miles Garriott and Adam Hoover on the first team, and Admirals coach Gary Reynolds was named the coach of the year.

Colonels honored

Centre College soccer players Maggie Ray and Jessica Chisley have been named offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Colonels defeated Hendrix 5-0 and Rhodes 2-0 last weekend, finishing 8-6-1 and in fifth place finish in the conference.

Ray, a junior midfielder, scored two goals and had two assists in Centre's win over Hendrix. Ray finished the season with 17 points on five goals and seven assists (sixth in the SCAC).

Chisley, a senior, recorded two shutouts in goal for the week, giving her six for the year.

She finished with a goals-against average of 0.84, allowing just 13 goals in 15 matches. She is a three-time All-SCAC goalkeeper.

"We finished the season in a big way," Centre coach Gina Nicoletti said. "Both of these young ladies are very deserving of these honors."

Nicoletti won her 100th game this season as the head coach of the Colonels. She has been the head coach at Centre the last 11 years.
