In October, Woodlawn Children's Campus became an America's Site of Promise.
America's Promise is a part of the AmeriCorps Program at Eastern Kentucky University in collaboration with the Kentucky Educational Collaborative for State Agency Children.
Woodlawn's treatment program is a residential facility that provides on-site educational services for boys ages 6-12. The educational staff includes two teachers, an aide and an administrator. Claudia Watts is district coordinator for KECSAC programs, and Brian Brannock is the on-site school administrator and teacher.
America's Promise was established by the President's Summit for America's Future in April 1997 and was chaired by Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell, with former Presidents Clinton, Bush, Carter and Ford participating.
