HARRODSBURG - Daryl Smith, 31, of North Magnolia Street, faces multiple charges, including inciting a riot, after an incident early Sunday morning.
Police were called to the Stoner Street area to quell a fight that was in progress. Smith allegedly was one of the people involved, although police did not witness the fight. Police checked and there was an outstanding warrant for Smith for failure to appear in Mercer District Court. When police tried to arrest him, he allegedly struggled with officers and doubled his fist near Officer Josh Devine.
Smith then fell to the ground for no apparent reason, according to police. Smith shouted to the growing crowd of people that he had been hit by police, and the bystanders became angry with officers.
Once placed in the back of a police cruiser, Smith allegedly kicked out the window and door assembly of the car. He faces charges of menacing, first-degree criminal mischief, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest along with the inciting a riot charge. He was released Monday on a 10 percent of $2,000 bond.
