Candidates for Fletcher's seat to speak

NICHOLASVILLE- The Republican Party of Jessamine County will hold a candidate forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday at West Jessamine High School. Candidates for the Republican nomination for the Congressional seat soon to be vacated by Governor-elect Ernie Fletcher will address the Republican electors who will determine the nominee. Library book sale set for weekend

Friends of the Boyle County Public Library will hold its annual book sale Friday through Sunday. Hours are 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the library, 307 W. Broadway.

Available are hundreds of new and like-new hardbacks, current best-sellers, and used books of all kinds, perfect for holiday gift-giving.

A special offering this year is a selection of older collectible books dating as far back as the late 1800's.

Intermediate Excel: 8-11 a.m. Dec. 1 and 3 at Kentucky School for the Deaf. Instructor is Ryan Dawson.

Introduction to Word: 1-4 p.m. Dec. 1 and 3 at KSD or 6-8 p.m. Dec. 2 and 4 at Junction City Elementary School.. Instructor is Beth Hayes.

Introduction to the Computer: 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 5, 12 and 19 at KSD for Danville school district grandparents and noon to 2 p.m. for Boyle County district families. $2 per session

Boiling for the Boiling Impaired: 7-9 p.m. Monday and Dec. 1 at Boyle County High School. Instructor is Alex Blevins.

Interior Design: Dec. 1 at KSD. Instructor is Diane Daughtery Reynolds. $8.

Stained Glass: 6-8 p.m. Dec. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Glass Mountain. Instructor is Ted Caldwell. $60.

Concealed Weapons: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 6 at KSD and 1:30 p.m. until completion Dec. 7. Instructor is Carroll Pixley. $75

ACT Prep: 3:30 p.m. Dec. 8-11 at Danville High School. $25.

Mercer Habitat needs volunteers

HARRODSBURG - Habitat for Humanity in Mercer County needs construction volunteers for work from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Nov. 28 and 29.

Skills needed are semi-finish carpentry and general clean-up. Half-day workers also are welcome.

The site is at 609 Dove Court in Quail Run subdivision in Harrodsburg, opposite the intersection of North College Street and Warwick Pike.

Everyone on the site must be over 18.

Youth musical set for Friday

Greater Harvest Ministry will present a youth musical at 7 p.m. Friday at the Hogsett Elementary School cafeteria.


Arts Commission of Danville/Boyle County - 7 p.m. Tuesday for its monthly board meeting at McClure-Barbee House.

Boyle County Democratic Women's Club - Thursday at Western Sizzlin. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m. The agenda includes nomination and election of officers.|None***
