Dallie E. Holmes
CRAB ORCHARD - Dallie Epperhart Holmes, 94, of U.S. 150 East, died Thursday at Nim Henson Geriatric Center in Jackson.
Born March 19, 1909, in Keavy, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Davis Epperhart. She was a homemaker, a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church and the widow of Sam Holmes Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Hayes of Jackson and Shirley Smith of Cincinnati; two sons, John R. Holmes and Gary C. Holmes, both of Cincinnati; and three sisters, Ottie McKeehan, Martha Smith and Rita Grider, all of Cincinnati. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Holmes.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home by Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff and Doug Smith, Cliff and Marty Hayes, Clark Holmes and Chuck Colwell.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday until time of service.
LIBERTY - Cindy Luttrell, 83, of Dry Fork Road, died Tuesday at her home.
Born Oct. 24 ,1920, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Marcus and Mahala Chumbley Luttrell. She was a homemaker and a member of Canaan Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include a niece, Donna Owens of Liberty.
Services were today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Clifford Dehart. Burial was in Bowmer Cemetery.
SCIENCE HILL - Thelmar Sims, 92, of Kings Mountain, died Wednesday at his home.
Born Oct. 15, 1911, he was the son of the late Boney and Lucy Stevens Sims. He was a carpenter and a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Pond Missionary Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran and the widower of Eula Katherine Shea Sims.
Survivors include a son, Delmer Sims of Kings Mountain; six daughters, Opal Hatter of Liberty, Ova Padgett and Ona Jones, both of Waynesburg, Oca Hatter of Kings Mountain, Oma Black of Taylorsville and Ora Caudill of Louisville; two brothers, Wallace and Odie Sims, both of Kings Mountain; a sister, Edith Caudill of Kings Mountain; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gelmer Sims.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home by Doug Sanders. Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. today.
Memorials may go to Hospice of Danville.
Joseph E. Shelton
HARRODSBURG - Joseph E. Shelton Jr., 79, died Thursday at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Born Feb. 14, 1924, in Paris, Tenn., he was the son of the late Joseph and Carrie Tally Shelton. He retired as a highly decorated major in the Air Force, having served in World War II and Vietnam. He also retired from Square D in Lexington and was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher and deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lane Sanders Shelton of Lexington; a son, Joseph E. Shelton III of Brewster, Mass.; two daughters, Sharon S. Burgin of Raleigh, N.C., and Sonja Lane Ostendorff of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Louis H. Shelton of Bowling Green; a sister, Martha Mercer of Bowling Green; and four grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be Monday at Spring Hill Cemetery by Rev. Wayne Holcomb.

LANCASTER - Services for Jessie Brock, 89, of Richmond Street, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Barry Jeffries. Burial will be in Paint Lick Cemetery.
He died Wednesday at Christian Care Center.
Born June 9, 1914, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Jess and Mary Holmes Brock. He was retired after serving 22 years in the Army and was a member of South Christian Church in Louisville. He was the widower of Captola Brock.
