Local businesswoman, pianist Rosetta Marshall dies

Rosetta Marshall

Services for Rosetta Marshall, 63, of South Street, will be noon Monday at the Church of God of America by Bishop C.K. Beasley. Burial will be in Hilldale Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

She had been a pianist and organist in several churches in Danville and Lexington. She was a cosmetologist and owner and operator of the House of Marshalls in Danville. She was a member of the Church of God of America.

Born Dec. 19, 1939, in Danville, she was the daughter of Mary Marshall of Danville and the late Felbert Marshall.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosalyn A. Wilson of Somerset, N.J.; two brothers, George C. Marshall and William H. Marshall, both of Cincinnati; a sister, Diane Marshall of Lexington; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a companion, James M. Daugherty.


Active pallbearers will be John R. Wilson Jr., David Payne Jr., Kenneth Payne, Robin and Omar Marshall and William H. Marshall Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Houston, James M. Daugherty, Henry Payne, Michael Hughes, Melvin Harris and Cecil Ford.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Smith-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harry N. Brainard

Harry Norman Brainard, 73, of Raintree Circle, Stanford, died Tuesday at home. Arrangements are incomplete at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.

Pearl M. Luttrell

LIBERTY - Pearl Mae Luttrell, 78, of Liberty, died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Oct. 21, 1925, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late James and Florence Jeffries Passmore. She was former co-owner of Abe's Food Market and belonged to First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Abe L. Luttrell; two sons, Harold Glenn Luttrell and George Abe Luttrell, both of Liberty; two daughters, Shelia Goode and Elicia Luttrell, both of Liberty; a sister, Lucy Pittman of Greenwood, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bartle Funeral Home by the Revs. Jimmy Brown and Larry Davis. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Freddie Goode, Jeffrey and Lincoln Luttrell, Shawn and Ryan Goode, and Dustin Emerson.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday.

Ernest "Buck" Rodgers

LIBERTY - Ernest "Buck" Rodgers, 85, of Cooper Ridge Road, Columbia, died Wednesday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born Aug. 20, 1918, in Casey County, he was the son of the late George and Fannie Emerson Rodgers. He was a retired factory worker and widower of Ruby Black Rodgers.

Survivors include a brother, Vitus Rodgers of Liberty; three sisters, Vivian Hoskins and Beatrice Carmicle, both of Russell Springs, and Lois Harris of Ohio; and a companion, Alma Barton of Columbia.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Clifford DeHart.

Burial will be in Whited Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry, Jackie, Donnie and Ronnie Rodgers and Gordon and George Brown.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday.

Dudley "Dud" Shelton

CRAB ORCHARD - Dudley "Dud" Lawrence Shelton, 87, of Greenbriar Lane, died Thursday at Fort Logan Hospital, Stanford.

Born May 4, 1916, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Johnny Reed and Vinnie Hopkins Shelton.

He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Della Hacker Shelton; two daughters, Teresa A. Newcomb of Livingston and Melissa Jo Blankenship of Crab Orchard; three sons, Clarence A. Shelton and Billy R. Shelton, both of Crab Orchard, and James R. Shelton of Brodhead; and a sister, Lou Nuckles of Crab Orchard.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McKnight Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday.

Lorene Wilder

STANFORD - Lorene Wilder, 73, of Old Ottenheim Road, died Wednesday at Fort Logan Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

Born Jan. 1, 1930, in Bell County, she was the daughter of Anna Mae Thompson Wilder of Stanford and the late Hillary Wilder.

Survivors also include a brother, William H. Wilder of Stanford; and a sister, Evelyn Wilder of Stanford.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home by Ralph Reynolds. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Stevie and Wayne Denson and Hank Wilder and Leo Wagner.

Visitation is 11 a.m. Saturday.


Jesse S. Hocker

STANFORD - Services for retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Jesse S. Hocker, 71, of Irving, Texas, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Stanford Christian Church by the Revs. Russell Smith and Jim Baughman. Burial will in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

He died Monday at Baylor-Irving Medical Center in Irving.

Active pallbearers will be Lawrence Gorin, Bill Cox, Bill Cox Jr., George Cox, Cabell D. Francis II and Bo Hocker. Honorary pallbearers will be Coleman Young, Dr. John Buckerby, Dr. John Baughman and Bill Holtzclaw.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at Fox Funeral Home.
