CRESTVIEW HILLS - Centre College lost a 10-point lead in the final eight minutes and fell 53-50 to Emory Sunday in the consolation game of the Julie Costello Memorial Tournament here Sunday.
Centre's women missed three shots in the final minute when they trailed 51-50.
"We just could not convert some chances that we had," said Centre coach Jennifer Ruff. "They hit some big shots to erase our lead. We played hard, but missed shots cost us."
Casey Geiman led Centre (2-3) with a career-high 15 rebounds and 14 points. She was named to the all-tournament team. Her performance helped Centre win the rebounding battle 39-22.
Centre had 17 of its 26 turnovers in the first half.
"We did a better job handling their pressure in the second half," Ruff said. "We also did a nice job defensively holding them to 38 percent shooting from the field. We just did not make enough shots in the final minutes to win."
