Boyle schools to dismiss early

All Boyle County schools will dismiss two hours early Wednesday to enable faculty to study issues affecting instruction.

Food sale set at church

St. James AME Church, 124 E. Walnut St., will hold a food sale beginning at 11 a.m. Friday. To order or for more information, call (859) 236-3241.

BCHS choir plans concert

The Boyle County High School Concert Choir will present "The Stars Seem Closer This Time of Year" at 7 p.m. Monday at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.

Featured will be traditional secular and sacred music of the season, as well as "Hope of Resolution," a song written for Mandela and de Klerk, performed by senior female choir members.


Donations will be accepted at the door.

Heart of Danville names parade winners

Winners at the annual Heart of Danville Christmas parade were:

In the industry category: first place, Dana Corp., $100; second place, Philips Lighting, $50; and third place, Ephraim McDowell Health, $25.

In the business category: first, Southern Belle Dairy, $100; second, House of Style, $50; and third, Farmers National Bank, $25.

In the non-commercial category: first, Gethsemane Baptist Church, $100; second, Red Cross, $50; and third, Danville Christian Academy, $25.

Danville Fire Department and Danville Police Department helped coordinate the event.

ObieDobie alpaca farm sets open house

LIBERTY - ObieDobie Farm, 579 Victory Road, will host a holiday celebration from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors can feed the alpacas, walk with them on a lead or just watch. Bring a picnic lunch; tables and seating are available.

Guy and Kathleen Lesperance also will have alpaca products available for sale.

Hampton Inn to host Business After Hours

Hampton Inn of Danville will host the Business After Hours event from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce at McClure-Barbee House. Chamber members who plan to attend are asked to call the office at (859) 236-2361 to make reservations.
