A driver who said she was distracted by a Mercer County Sheriff's deputy directing traffic sparked a three-car wreck Monday afternoon on U.S. 127 just north of Harrodsburg, police said.
D. Garcia, 20, of Harrodsburg was southbound on 127 when she spotted Deputy Rick Moberly directing traffic, according to Deputy Chris Kehrt.
When Garcia hit her brakes, she told Kehrt, her 2000 Dodge Durango veered into the right lane, striking the 2004 Chevy 2500 pickup driven by Robert Holladay, 49, of Harrodsburg. The impact forced Holladay into the emergency lane, where he struck a parked trailer being towed by Tommy Hundley of Gravel Switch.
There were no initial reports of injuries. Holladay's pickup, however, was severely damaged and towed. The other two vehicles sustained minor to moderate damage.
