LA GRANGE - Edna Broyles McCarter, 85, formerly of La Grange, died Dec. 12 in Lebanon, Tenn.
Survivors include four sons, Lewis D. McCarter of Boyle County and John L., Roger L. and William S. McCarter; five daughters, Sue Whitworth, Nancy Bush, Judity Frazier, Rebecca Medley and Janet L. Williams; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home.
Visitation is 2-3 p.m. Saturday.
HARRODSBURG - Allen Carroll Smith, 82, of Johnson Road, died Wednesday. He was the husband of Mary Bell Clark Smith. Arrangements are incomplete at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Gulnare V. Wells
HARRODSBURG - Gulnare V. Wells, 93, of Louisville Road, died Tuesday at her home.
Born Oct. 13, 1910, in Louisville, she was the daughter of the late John Slaughter and Gulnare Baker Long. She was a homemaker, a member of the Baptist church.
She was the widow of William V. Borries and Frank G. Wells.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara L. Von Borries of Harrodsburg; a stepson, Joe F. Wells of Newbury, Ind.; and two stepgrandchildren.
Memorial services will be Saturday at L.D. Pearson & Son Funeral Home, Louisville.

CRAB ORCHARD - Services for Lena Alice Abbott Denney, 79, of Star Avenue, will be 11 a.m. Friday at McKnight Funeral Home by Cecil Roundtree and Grant Bowman. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
She died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born Feb. 24, 1924, in Monticello, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rona Decker Abbott.
She was a member of World Harvest Revival Center in Danville, a senior citizens companion and a former employee of Fort Logan Hospital. She was the widow of Carl Denney.
Survivors include five daughters, Betty Pearl of Mount Vernon, Pauline Thompson of Lancaster, Loretta Gilliam of Tazewell, Tenn., and Fran Napier and Juanita Harris, both of Danville; five sons, Billy Denney, Bobby Denney and Carlos Denney, all of Crab Orchard, Carl Denney of Cleves, Ohio, and Dan Denney of Stanford; a brother, Andrew Abbott of Monticello; 40 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today.
James A. Rogers
STANFORD - Services for James A. Rogers, 73, of High Bridge Road will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Stanford Baptist Church by the Rev. Max Hester. Burial will be in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
He died Tuesday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Feb. 7, 1930, in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Amos and Sarah Kaye Rogers.
He was a retired principal at McKinney Elementary School, an Army veteran of the Korean War and member of Eastside Baptist Church in Bullitt County.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Mayne Rogers; a son, Carlie David Rogers of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Robert Rogers of Louisville and Roy Rogers of Lawrenceburg; and three sisters, Virginia Cammack of Frankfort, Sue Perry of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Jean DeBelle of Morning View.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy, Tim, Mike and Roger Rogers, Greg Baird, Rod Bates and Scott Montgomery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Hurt, Huber Lee, James Phillips, Carrol Richards, Ricky Mullins, Reuben Owens, John Mayne and Leroy Petrey.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home.
