One injured in traffic accident

Danville police investigated a two-vehicle accident Wednesday in which one person was sent to the hospital with possible injuries.

Melissa P. Releford, 35, of Harrodsburg, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup on Ky. 52, when she stopped at the intersection with U.S. 150.

Her vehicle was hit in the rear by a 2002 Nissan pickup driven by Jennifer L. Irvin, 29, of Berea. Irvin told police both vehicles stopped at the light, and Releford began to move when the light turned green, then suddenly stopped. Releford told police she was stopped at the light and was hit from behind by Irvin.

A passenger in Releford's vehicle, Lisa R. Campbell, 42, of Harrodsburg, was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of possible injuries. Officer Keith Addison investigated.

Firefighter hurt in crash on way to fire

STANFORD - A firefighter was involved in a one-car accident Wednesday evening on the way to a structure fire. According to dispatchers, the Station 1 firefighter was not injured after his car ran into a ditch on U.S. 27 South, while responding to a call. His name was not available.

The structure fire was located at 6730 Ky. 698. The caller said he could see smoke coming from the attic of the residence.

Stations 1, 4, and 8 were dispatched at 8:45 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters could see flames flaring from the roof. The scene of the fire was cleared by officials at 10:48 p.m. The cost of damages to the residence have not been estimated.
