BEREA - Lincoln County's girls rode a big third quarter to their first win of the season, beating Breathitt County 56-45 Thursday in the Berea Holiday Classic.
Lincoln (1-4) outscored Breathitt 24-10 in the third quarter, and coach John Kolasa said everyone contributed.
"Jenny Ralston and Megan Pitts hit a couple of 3s, Jenny Jones and Jessica Ryan scored some inside," Kolasa said. "It was probably as good of a quarter as we've had on both ends of the floor."
Jones and Ralston each scored 16 points for Lincoln. Ralston had six steals and Jones had five rebounds and three steals. Kendra Garris had a team-high eight rebounds, Gwen Hardwick had seven boards, four steals and three assists and Pitts had six rebounds and three assists.
Lincoln was 20-for-57 from the field, a 35 percent mark, while Breathitt (2-3) hit 20 of 51 shots for a 39 percent mark. Lincoln won the rebounding battle 37-30 and forced 33 Breathitt turnovers.
