I have practiced medicine in Danville since 1975. Over that time, I have seen Ephraim McDowell hospital grow from an old building to a new facility. When I arrived in Danville, I was the 19th physician on staff, and now we are near 100 physicians of many specialties.
I had not intended to close my practice of general and vascular surgery at this time and had planned to practice in Danville five to seven additional years, but with the unreasonable increases in malpractice insurance and the decrease in payments by Medicare, Medicaid and other health insurance, I am unable to maintain my practice.
I wish to thank my patients, their families, my fellow physicians and the hospital staff for their trust and kindness throughout the 29 years. I will miss them.
