Lincoln girls lose 61-27 in South Oldham finale

January 02, 2004

CRESTWOOD - The Lincoln County girls' offense went cold in a 61-27 loss to Corbin on Wednesday in the fifth-place game of the South Oldham Holiday Tournament.

Lincoln (3-8) managed just six points in the first quarter and trailed 30-18 at halftime, and the Lady Patriots scored just five points in the first 13 minutes of the second half.

"We didn't get many shots," Lincoln coach John Kolasa said. "Corbin just dismantled us in a lot of ways. We got in some early foul trouble, and then we couldn't score."

Jamie Bonza led all scorers with 15 points for Corbin (6-4).

Lincoln, which went 1-2 in the tournament, got five points each from Jenny Ralston, Jamie Duncan, Megan Pitts and Jenny Jones.

"We didn't play well and they played well, and we're just going to have to get back to work," Kolasa said.

The Lady Patriots play at Garrard County tonight in the first half of a girls-boys doubleheader.
