Harrodsburg man jailed on drug charges

HARRODSBURG - Christopher G. Devine, 18, of 544 N. College St., Apt. 10, was arrested by Harrodsburg police following a traffic stop in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Devine, a passenger in the vehicle, was charged with public intoxication. When he was searched, police allegedly found a marijuana cigarette and rolling papers, according to a police department press release.

He was then charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to the Boyle County Detention Center where he was later released on 10 percent of a $4,000 bond.


Officer Jason Eldridge made the arrest.

Two passengers injured; driver charged

LIBERTY - Two passengers were airlifted to a Lexington hospital after a single-vehicle accident Sunday, and the driver was jailed on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants, police said.

Katuria Calcine and Elijah Akau, both of Liberty, were taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center for treatment of leg and other injuries, said Casey County Deputy Sheriff Dennis Allen.

Driver Caleb Calcine, serving in the Navy in Jacksonville, Fla., was lodged in the Casey County Detention Center on the DUI charge.

Calcine was driving south on Ky. 49 five miles north of Liberty when he lost control of his vehicle in a curve. The vehicle ran off the road and struck a rock bluff, said Allen. The car also overturned and slid across the road.

The Liberty/Casey County Rescue Squad, Brush Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Casey County Ambulance Service helped extricate the two passengers.

Stolen tools and CD player recovered

LIBERTY - Property stolen Tuesday from Green River Gate Co. on U.S. 127 North was recovered Sunday night by Casey County Deputy Sheriff Dennis Allen.

He said several tools and a compact disc player and CDs were recovered.

Allen has two suspects in the theft.
