STANFORD - A man wanted in connection with an attempted burglary in December in Lincoln County was arrested Monday in Fayette County after a tipster told the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department he would be at a car lot.
Wayne Slaven, 34, of Crab Orchard, was wanted in Lincoln County for second-degree burglary after allegedly breaking into the Herman Cornett home on Dec. 16. Cornett owns Cornett's Grocery.
Slaven was reportedly seen with two other suspects entering the driveway of the house by Cornett, who fought with the would-be burglars and shot one man in the leg.
Slaven's wife, Sherry Slaven, was wanted for fourth-degree assault in an unrelated case and was also arrested.
According to the sheriff's department, Fayette County police made the arrest at a car lot. The couple were taken to the Lincoln County Regional Jail. Wayne Slaven is being held on a $25,000 cash only bond. Sherry Slaven posted a lesser bond and was released pending trial.
