Anthony Wayne and Kathie Lee Hart, the Somerset couple accused of attempting to sell their 3-month-old baby Nov. 30, 2002, appeared Tuesday in Boyle Circuit Court for a status hearing.
Judge Darren Peckler set a Feb. 3 competency hearing for Kathie Lee Hart, and both of the Harts will appear March 2 for another status hearing.
The couple are charged with one count each of attempting to sell a child for adoption, a Class D felony in Kentucky, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison if convicted. The Harts are free on bond.
State police, Danville police and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department participated in the arrest, which was characterized as a sting operation by a state police spokesman at the time.
