HARRODSBURG - Mercer County Crime Stoppers and Harrodsburg police are seeking the arrest of Michael K. Smith, also known as Michael K. Mallory, 23, of 300 Cedar St., Apt. B.
Officer Scott Elder attempted a traffic stop of a 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier for equipment violations on South College Street near Mr. Kwik about 10:50 p.m. Monday. The driver and car sped away to the back of the house at 300 Cedar St. Police followed the car.
When the car came to a stop, the driver fled on foot. Elder ran after him and severely injured his knee in the pursuit. Elder was treated and released from James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital and is unable to work.
Warrants were obtained for Smith's arrest. Outstanding charges include first-degree fleeing and second-degree fleeing, third-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
