In essence, I agree with the writer concerning the "average Joe" scalping UK ball tickets. The first thought that came to my mind after reading this letter was how it relates to any kind of major event. There will always be the "haves" and the "have nots." Those that "have" will either choose to keep or sell; those that don't will seek and buy at whatever price they can swallow to obtain.
It isn't much different from the recent presidential visits. The average Joe didn't have access to those either. Those invited, who did attend, did so at a rate of X number of dollars per plate. This was all done in the name of donations, too. No one seemed to think that expecting a donation of $1,000 per plate was asking too much. As good as some cooking is, I can't think of any meal I would spend $1,000 a plate for (sorry Mom).
