Engagements for Jan. 11

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stockton of Lawrenceburg and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Graves of Lexington announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Kathleen, to Thomas DeWayne Shirley, son of Floyd Thomas and Leatrice Shirley of Harrodsburg.

Graves is a 1996 graduate of Anderson County High School and earned degrees in 2002 and 2002 from the University of Kentucky. She is employed by Franklin County Board of Education as a speech-language pathologist.

Shirley is a 1989 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and is a mechanical maintenance supervisor for Corning Inc.

An open wedding is planned for 6:30 p.m. June 12 at First Christian Church of Lawrenceburg.


Harry Means of Champaign, Ill., announces the engagement of his daughter, Laine Clare Means, to Darren Gregory Barnard, son of Greg and Linda Barnard of Danville.


Means also is the daughter of the late Cherrie Means. She is a 1993 graduate of Champaign Central High School, and earned a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from University of Illinois- Urbana/ Champaign in 1996, graduated from University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law in 1999, and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is an attorney with Cordell & Cordell.

Barnard is a 1992 graduate of Danville High School and earned a bachelor of science degree from Western Kentucky University in hotel and restaurant management. He is a lead mutual fund representative for DST Systems.

A wedding is planned for Feb. 14 at Leawood United Methodist Church in Leawood, Kan.
