Programs set at health department

Boyle County Diabetes Coalition will host a free program on weight loss at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Boyle County Health Department, 448 S. Third St.

Angie Chadwell, registered dietitian with Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, will discuss losing weight the safe way, benefits and strategies. Participants will get free weigh-ins and blood pressure checks.

The next session of the Cooper/Clayton Smoking Cessation Class will be 6 p.m. Friday at the health department. The class will meet each Thursday until April 1.


MLK commemoration planned Jan. 19

HARRODSBURG - Harrodsburg Roots and Heritage will hold a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration Jan. 19, beginning with a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the West Lane Park building. A donation of $3 is requested toward the breakfast. Following breakfast, a march will start in front of Centennial Baptist Church and go west on Lexington Street, north on Magnolia, east on Broadway, south on Fort Street, and east on Lexington Street to St. Peter AME Church.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Peter AME Church by Shalim Mustafa.
