Mauricus Lofton, a junior at Danville High School, will participate in a special program Thursday in Frankfort celebrating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Lofton, a member of the DHS forensics team, will perform a dramatic monologue. Lofton has participated in Danville's King celebration in the past, delivering renditions of the late civil rights leader's speeches.
The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Farnham Dudgeon Civic Center in Frankfort. Others on the program include the West Louisville Girls Choir and a Chautauqua performance by Haley Bowling. Gov. Ernie Fletcher will kick off the program with the keynote address.
