Mary G. Akin

Mary G. Akin, 77, of Springhill Road, died today at St. Joseph Hospital. She was the wife of James G. Akin Jr. Arrangements are incomplete at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.

Margaret Alford

WAYNESBURG - Margaret Alford, 76, of Waynesburg, wife of J.W. Alford, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home.

Dallas F. Meeks

LIBERTY - Dallas Franklin Meeks, 73, of Liberty, died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 21, 1930, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Pierce and Polly Spaw Meeks. He was a retired farmer.


Survivors include his wife, Lula Pevley Meeks; a son, James Meeks of Sunman, Ind.; three daughters, Janie Pendleton and Linda Buis, both of Liberty, and Joanne Cropper of Gamaliel; two sisters, Hazel Byrd and Rose Hines, both of Liberty; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Clifford DeHart. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today.


Martha F. Whitaker

MORELAND - Services for Martha Frances Whitaker, 79, of Louisville, formerly of Moreland, will be 11 a.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. David Fralix. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

She died Monday in Louisville.

Pallbearers will be Chris, Mark and Yancy Whitaker, Kerry Metts, John Sanders, Troy Hogue and Terry Conner.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today.
