LIBERTY - Professional basketball player Lamont Barnes, 25, of Columbus, Ohio, and Switzerland, was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants at 12:30 a.m. Sunday after his vehicle went out of control at the intersection of Ky. 206 and Ky. 70, police said.
Barnes was lodged in the Casey County Detention Center for eight hours then released on a $500 cash bond, according to Jailer Tommy Miller.
The Lexington native apparently ran off the road at the junction of the two highways, went into a ditch, then airborne across Ky. 70, clipped a telephone pole and the car came to rest on its top, Deputy Sheriff Dennis Allen said.
Allen said Barnes had a lip injury, but refused medical treatment. Barnes told Allen that he could not see the highway because of heavy fog.
