State police investigate death of woman

SPRINGFIELD - State police are investigating the death of Sandra Kay O'Bryan, 31, of 206 Perryville Road, Springfield.

The woman was found dead Tuesday by a family member. O'Bryan was pronounced dead by the Washington County coroner, who indicated she had been dead since Sunday. The cause of death has not been determined, pending results of an autopsy.

Basketball player pleads guilty to DUI

LIBERTY - Lamont S. Barnes, 25, of Columbus, Ohio, and Switzerland, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Casey District Court to a driving under the influence of intoxicants charge, court records show.

Barnes, a professional basketball player, was charged with DUI Sunday morning after his vehicle was involved in a traffic accident at the intersection of Ky. 70 and Ky. 206.


Barnes paid a $570.50 fine and court costs and spent eight hours in the Casey County Detention Center. His driver's license also was suspended for 90 days; however, he will be granted a hardship license after 30 days.

Three-car accident injures one person

Danville police investigated a three-car accident at 3:54 p.m. Monday that sent one person to the hospital.

According to the report, a 1991 Mercury Marquis driven by Polly Judd, 61, of Yosemite, was traveling south on Fourth Street and slowed to turn left into the Rainbow Cleaners parking lot.

At the same time, a 1996 Infiniti driven by Donald Akin, 72, of Cincinnati, was traveling south behind Judd, and a 1993 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jesse H. Hogue, 75, of 529 Barbee Way, was behind Akin. Akin slowed to allow Judd to turn, and Hogue hit Akin's vehicle from behind.

Akin's vehicle then struck Judd's vehicle in the rear, causing Judd's car to hit the front wall of Rainbow Cleaners, resulting in some structural damage.

Hogue was treated at the scene by Boyle County Emergency Medical Service and then transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of possible injuries.
