I would like to applaud Mrs. Horn's letter to the editor on Jan. 19th. I see so many of the same people she speaks of in prison daily - ones who've not been taught right from wrong, or allowed to do whatever they wanted and were never disciplined.
After having reared a son, and after having had to resort to an occasional spanking for "goodness' sake" and only out of love for my son, I can truly say it hurt me more than it did him. It's called "tough love." Had my parents not done the same for me, it's really hard to say what I would've become.
Knowing for every wrong deed on my part there would be like retribution was a valuable deterrent.
Bravo Rhonda M. Horn! At least your children will know right from wrong, and they will be less likely to find themselves in shady situations. You go girl!
