Alma W. Long, 99, of Danville, died Wednesday at Charleston Health Care Center. She was the widow of Grover Long. Arrangements are incomplete at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.

HARRODSBURG - Pleas Travillian, 98, of Hugley Lane, died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.


Laura N. Harness

CRAB ORCHARD - Services for Laura Nicholas Harness, 99, of Harness Road, will be 11 a.m. Friday at McKnight Funeral Home by Curt Herrington. Burial will be in Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery.


She died Tuesday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Troy and Alan Stigall, Bryan, Jason and Bill Harness Jr., Glenn Hardin, Greg Murphy and Joe Otte.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today.

Earl K. Sowder

LANCASTER - Services for Earl Kenneth "Ken" Sowder, 73, of Boone's Creek Road, will be noon Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Barry Jeffries. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

He died Tuesday at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Feb. 18, 1930, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Clyda Wooten Sowder. He was retired after 45 years as a car salesman, working for Wade Motor Co. and John Clay Chevrolet. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and served in the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Sowder; two sons, David K. Sowder of Lancaster and Mark Sowder of Stanford; a brother, Paul Sowder of Lexington; two sisters, Geneva Bandy of Lancaster and Mary Jean Snyder of Richmond; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roy Gibson, Mike Wade, Gary Snyder, Harry Richardson Jr., Scott Sowder and Glenn Vance. Honorary pallbearers are Russell Hester, John Buchanan, Clay Cessna, Buddy Rogers and Pete Parker.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to American Heart Association.

Jewell Watson

CRAB ORCHARD - Services for Jewell Laverne Brown Watson, 78, of Hwy. 618, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home by Gerald Carter. Burial will be in Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.

She died Wednesday at her home.

Born Jan. 15, 1926, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late William Bud and Esther E. Wilson Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Leslie Watson; three sons, Hershel Watson and Larry Watson, both of Crab Orchard, and Daryl Watson of Nicholasville; a brother, Clarence Brown of Goshen, Ohio; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Derek, Heath, Jason and Kevin Watson, Eric and Chad Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Ray and Lee Brown, Melvin Lamb, Cecil Roundtree, Billy Griffin, Larry Paul, Jeff Brown and Shirley Cable.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday.

Jerome Williams

LANCASTER - Services for Jerome "Romie" Williams, 84, of Lexington, formerly of Lancaster, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Bruce Carpenter. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

He died Tuesday at Central Baptist Hospital.

Born Oct. 12, 1919, in Madison County, he was the son of the late Squire and Mary Elizabeth Wylie Williams. He was a retired employee of Mr. Wiggs in Lexington. He was a member of Bethel Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Osie Montgomery Williams; two sons, Ernie Williams and Charlie Williams, both of Lexington; a daughter, Valeria P. Stansfield of Harrisburg, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Stansfield, Bobby Estes, Christopher and Michael Williams, Tommy Welch and Mack Layton. Honorary pallbearers are Richard and Harold Montgomery, Harvey Taylor and Billy Estes.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today.
