Crab Orchard Baptist Church - 2 p.m. Sunday, installation service and reception for new pastor David Peters. Church is on Stanford Street.

The Singing Byrds, of Junction City, have released a new project recorded at Church House Studios in Middlesboro.

The project, titled "Kentucky Breakthrough," has 11 songs including the song "Kentucky," which is about how dear Kentucky is to those who were born and raised here. There are also two songs, "God of the Breakthrough," and "Acts 2:4," which were written by group member and lead vocalist, Jeanie Byrd Stephens. The rest of the project contains the vocals of remaining group members Anna "Mama" Byrd, Elizabeth Byrd Montgomery and Johnny Montgomery.


The project will debut on WRSL 1520 AM 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday. Listeners will be invited to phone in and vote for their favorite songs, which will be released on CD with Coal Harbor Music to radio stations nationwide in March.

Registration for Higher Goal Basketball League will be held 9 a.m.- noon Feb. 7 at Mitchellsburg Baptist Church. Boys and girls, kindergarten through eighth grade, will be on separate teams.

Games will be Saturdays, Feb. 21 through March 27. Cost is $12 per player, includes: T-shirt, trophy and Bible. Scholarships are available.
