The City of Danville is fortunate to have an organization such as Heritage Hospice. I am a resident of Stanford, but when my father, Abbie Noland Brummett, and my mother, Ina Mae Brummett, became ill with the dreaded disease of cancer, I cannot begin to tell you everything Heritage Hospice did to help our family. Unless you have experienced the benefits offered by Hospice, you cannot understand everything they do to help families. Not only do they care for the family member with a terminal illness, they offer so much moral support and help to the caregivers.
During my mother's illness, the nurse, social worker, chaplain and the ladies who bathed her were so kind and caring. Most of these people came our home weekly and were angels in disguise. Not only did they render medical care and emotional support, they bonded with out family, helping us to prepare for the inevitable - the death of my beloved mother.
