Casey man indicted on assault charge

LIBERTY - A Casey County grand jury indicted 13 people Monday on charges ranging from assaulting a police officer to driving under the influence of intoxicants, forgery, theft and flagrant nonsupport, according to records in Circuit Clerk Craig Overstreet's office.

James E. Wesley, 41, 1672 E. Ky. 70, Lot 6, Liberty, was charged with third-degree assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree terroristic threatening after an incident involving city police.

Wesley is accused of assaulting Liberty police Officer Lee Smith Dec. 14 and causing damage to a police cruiser. No bond was set.

Others indicted were:

* Richard K. Lynn, 50, 3950 Harrodsburg Road, Danville, charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, DUI, and second offense driving without a license. He is accused of engaging in conduct Jan. 9 that created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to Brian Allen.


* Charles D. Lynn, 34, Liberty, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or other substance Dec. 24 while license had been suspended or revoked for DUI. He was released on bail and ordered not to drive.

* Krista S. Watson, 23, 69 Means Road, Waynesburg, charged with three counts of second-degree forgery. She is accused of passing two checks June 5 on the account of Opal Watson at Casey County Bank and written to Breeden and Withers Grocery and one check to Pamida.

* Shanda E. Dunn, 21, Lexington, charged with second-degree forgery. She is accused of passing a check Oct. 15 on the account of Sharon and Jeff Porter at Heritage Bank and written to Tobacco Outlet.

* Jimmy Dale Robbins, 20, 355 Trammel St., Liberty, charged with theft of a motor vehicle registration plate or renewal decal Jan. 2 from the property of Brenda Crew Wethington. No bond was set.

* Gary Collier, age and address unavailable, charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of property over $300. He is accused of obtaining property and personal items and failing to pay for them in August.

* Indicted for nonsupport and the amount each person allegedly owes in support payments were:

Keith Hogue, 30, $9,076; James D. McQueary, 44, $20,718; Harold J. Godbey Jr., $3,260; Kimberly Luttrell, 36, $4,921; Jody E. York, 22, $3,288; and Michael T. Mitchell, 21, Greensburg, $2,830. Luttrell, Mitchell, Hogue and York are under $500 cash bonds each; McQueary and Godbey are under $750 bonds each.

Wesley will be arraigned Monday. Others will be arraigned at 1 p.m. Feb. 23 in Casey Circuit Court.
