The Harrodsburg boys held Sayre to five points in the third quarter to secure a 66-48 victory Tuesday night in Lexington.

Mariqus Brown scored 21 points and Justin Doolin added 18 for the Pioneers, who stretched a 38-30 halftime lead over Sayre (6-10) to 52-35 after three periods.

"From start to finish, this was probably the best game we've played all year as far as execution was concerned," Harrodsburg coach Spencer Tatum said. "We played excellent defense in the third quarter to spread the lead out, and we were able to make our free throws down the stretch."

Harrodsburg (8-11) was 10-for-18 at the line, and the Pioneers shot 47.2 percent (25-for-53) from the field and were 6-for-16 from 3-point range.

Brown was 8-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-3 from 3-point range. He also had four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Doolin was 7-for-16, and he and Mark Dunn each had seven of the Pioneers' 33 rebounds.

"This was one of Doolin's better games overall, and Brown shot the ball well, but it was a total team effort in which everyone contributed," Tatum said.

Harrodsburg had 14 assists, 11 steals and only eight turnovers.
