LIBERTY - Nine people, mostly from the Douglas school district, expressed concerns Thursday night about the proposed new elementary school that will replace three rural schools in Casey County, according to Stacy Beeler, secretary for the District Facilities Plan Committee.
One parent expressed concern about not being as comfortable when she visits her child in a larger school as she is at the small Douglas school, according to Beeler. Many of those attending said they would attend the final public forum scheduled 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at the high school library.
Beeler said most of those attending commented on concerns about a larger school and busing rather opposing the proposed consolidation.
Only one person attended the first forum last week but did not complain about the new school. Although he does not have any children in school, he asked questions and was surprised that he was the only citizen at the forum.
