Two charged after alcohol raid

LIBERTY - Two Casey County men were apprehended early Tuesday morning after county and state police confiscated 98 cans of beer, several marijuana joints, and four weapons at a residence on Henson Ridge Road, according to Sheriff Jerry Coffman.

Jesse Wren, 49, Henson Ridge Road, Liberty, was charged with illegal sale of alcohol beverages, Coffman said.

Dayton Harris, 37, of Liberty, was charged with possession of marijuana, illegal sale of alcoholic beverages and receiving stolen property. He pleaded innocent, and the case was waived to the grand jury.

Two vehicles reported stolen

Danville police are investigating two reports of stolen vehicles.

A black, 1993 Ford Taurus was reported missing at 12:45 p.m. Sunday from the Pizza Hut parking lot on Perryville Road. The victim was Cynthia Dean, of Middleburg.


Police said William L. Taylor also reported the theft Friday of his blue, 1990 Chevrolet Caprice. The theft occurred at 2 a.m. at 198 Lincoln Ave.

Danville woman injured in crash

LANCASTER - A Danville woman was injured Tuesday when her car struck a rock wall along Ky. 52 in Garrard County.

State police said Rose Cheek, 37, of 1111 Secretariat Drive, told police the bright headlights of an oncoming car blinded her, causing her to lose control of her 1991 Oldsmobile.

She overcorrected, crossed the westbound lane and struck the wall. Cheek suffered head injuries in the crash.
