A story in Tuesday's paper which mentioned 2003 ethics charges against Danville City Commissioner Ryan Owens was misleading.
The Danville Ethics Board attempted in June 2003 to issue three reprimands against Owens, but the action was deemed unlawful by the Kentucky Attorney General because the board violated the state's Open Meetings Act.
The story incorrectly stated that the charges were "upheld." Charges had been brought against three members of City Commission - Owens, Chester Kavanagh and Mayor John Bowling - but the board attempted to take action only against Owens.
The Danville Ethics Board had received complaints from Danville Citizens for Good Government alleging Owens had violated city ethics code sections addressing open and accessible government, principles of conduct and the city manager form of government.
