JUNCTION CITY - Newly elected City Councilman Donnie Goode has not bought a license for Heritage Closing Agency, which he runs out of his home. Mayor G.G. Harmon said that if he doesn't buy the $50 license the city will have to cite him.
Goode was not at Thursday's meeting. He was on vacation in Florida. Failure to buy a license is a misdemeanor punishable with a $50-$500 fine and up to 30 days in jail. The city has sent Goode one letter warning him that he must buy a license.
Council passed the business license ordinance, before Goode sat on the council, to raise funds for its strapped coffers.
All businesses operating in the city were supposed to have bought a license by Jan. 1. The city has sold licenses to 55 businesses in the city.
