Danville's Booth wins title at 125

COVINGTON - Chris Booth of Danville won his first tournament of the season Saturday, taking first place in the 125-pound class at Dixie Heights' round-robin tournament.

Booth went 5-0 in the tournament and won the championship match by technical fall, outscoring Phil Jones of Franklin County 19-4 before the match was stopped with three seconds remaining.

"He's hitting the groove at the right time," Danville coach Jeff Selby said.

Jacob Phillips (135 pounds), Matt Booth (140) and Derrick Lang (189) finished third in their respective classes.

This was the last competition for Danville before the 2nd Region Championships next Saturday at Central Hardin.
