Casey accepts state road maintenance plan

LIBERTY - Casey Fiscal Court will go along with the state Transportation Cabinet's recommendation for road maintenance on four state roads this year.

Bruce Neeley of the district office in Somerset said the roads are Ky. 1649 from the junction of Ky. 501 to Ky. 1649; from Roush Branch Road to Ky. 80; Ky. 837 from the new surface to Raggedy Ridge Road; and Raggedy Ridge Road to the junction of Hatter Road.

The court also approved the county road aid agreement with the state Transportation Cabinet which has 113 other counties participating.

In other road business, the court approved a contract with Edcon Fence Co. to install guard rails on Patsy Riffe Ridge Road, Thomas Ridge Spur and Elmore Hill Road at a cost of $57,875.

In other business, Fiscal Court:

* Approved a 1.882 percent cost of living raise for county employees.

* Agreed to install a repeater system for satellites and cellular telephones. Dotson Cellular Systems has the lease agreement for the service.


* Adopted a resolution from Lincoln, Madison and Elliott counties to participate in a bond issue for loans for first-time home buyers.

* Approved a 20-year lease with Gate Way Park with three changes: The county cannot sublease any part of the park; the county increase the liability insurance from $200,000 to $500,000; and to increase medical coverage from $5,000 to $1 million.
