Pioneers win with 34-2 run

HARRODSBURG - The Harrodsburg boys outscored Woodford County 34-2 over the final 4 1/2 minutes Friday to earn a 67-49 win in its final home game.

The Pioneers (10-14) fell behind Woodford (7-17) by 13 points in the third quarter and trailed 47-33 before beginning their run, which was punctuated by a series of steals and three-point plays.

Shane Webb scored 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter for Harrodsburg, and Mariqus Brown had nine of his team-high 17 points.

"This was a great team effort, especially the last five minutes of the ballgame, both on the defensive and offensive ends," Harrodsburg coach Spencer Tatum said.


Brown was 7-for-8 from the field and had four rebounds and three assists, while Webb went 6-for-12 and had 10 rebounds.

Mark Dunn, who had 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, hit six of nine shots and added three assists and three steals.

Harrodsburg shot 43.3 percent (26-for-60) from the field despite going 3-for-20 from 3-point range. The Pioneers hit 12 of 20 free throws and had 42 rebounds, including 22 offensive boards, and only 10 turnovers.
