Dear Editor:
I have lived in the Old Shakertown Road area of Danville for about two years.
Over the past several months, a group of neighbors and I have become concerned about the speed of traffic coming from Holtzclaw Lane onto Old Shakertown Road - particularly at the bus stop where the two roads intersect.
Two weeks ago, we voiced our concerns to Danville Police Capt. James Monroe. Immediately, police began to patrol the area several times per shift, and speed limit and bus stop signs have been placed in the area. This has led to a rapid decrease in speed on our street .
I would like to commend Captain Monroe and the Danville Police Department as a whole for taking our concerns so seriously and acting so quickly. It's nice to live in a town that cares about the well being and concerns of its citizens.
