Old-fashioned pie supper is Saturday

FORKLAND - Forkland Community Center will host its first annual old-fashioned pie supper and spaghetti dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The pie auction begins at 7:30 p.m. and will feature homemade pies. The men are expected to bid on certain pies to gain favor with the women who baked them, according to pie suppers in years gone by.

The entry fee for the homemade pies is $5, and the winner will get a trophy. Entry fee for children 12 years and younger is $2. Cost of the spaghetti dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-10.

The menu includes spaghetti, tossed salad, garlic bread with butter, and iced tea or lemonade. Coffee and soft drinks also will be available. Pizza will be available for children.


The community center is on Ky. 37, 15 miles west of Danville.

Booths available at Casey apple fest

LIBERTY - The Casey County Apple Festival and Fair Inc. is taking applications for booths to displays arts and crafts, flea market and food items for the festival Sept. 19-25.
