Lancaster's Helen Broaddus did a better job of pickings upsets in the final Popeyes Beat the Experts Basketball Contest than any other contestant last week.
She got eight games right, including Washington's upset of previously unbeaten Stanford, to win the final regular-season contest. She's now eligible for the season-ending grand prize contest and also wins a 12-piece chicken dinner from Popeyes.
Sports editor Larry Vaught led the panel of experts with only five correct picks. Those who beat the best expert to win a 2-piece chicken dinner from Popeyes were as follows:
Seven right - Lisa Rogers, Danville; Bobby Hinkle, Danville; and D.E. Cooper, Parksville.
Six - Diana Ray, Lancaster; Jeff Broaddus, Lancaster; John Dinwiddie, Danville; Sally Brammer, Stanford; Brenda Hinkle, Danville; John Ponsoll, Danville; Brandon Ponsoll, Danville; Justin Kelley, Stanford; Jeremy Potts, Danville; Garland Frederick, Danville; Philip Graham, Hustonville; Matthew Milburn, Danville; Robbie Hair, Hustonville; Julia Sanders, Lancaster; and Abby Lester, Perryville.
