HARRODSBURG Joe Hood was sworn in Monday morning at Harrodsburg City Hall to complete the Harrodsburg City Commission term from which he resigned Feb. 24.
Hood was an attorney working for the Legislative Research Commission and retired from it at the same time he quit the commission. Since both the city and the LRC participate in the state retirement plan, Hood had to retire from both. He will not participate in the retirement system now as a member of the City Commission.
As he promised to do, Commissioner Eddie Long nominated Hood to fill his term. Long said on Feb. 24 that he had appointed Hood to the City Commission once before. He said he didn't know Hood would go on to defeat him in two elections.
None of the four commissioners faces opposition in the general election, so Hood will serve out this term and remain on the commission for at least two more years.|
