Fire destroys barn used for home

HARRODSBURG - A fire at the home of the Patrick Rice family at 4754 Grapevine Road was destroyed by fire Sunday night. The building belongs to David Rice.

The building was a barn that had been turned into a dwelling.

"It was about ruined when we got there," said J.B. Claunch, chief of Terrapin Fire Department. "It was about a half to two-thirds destroyed."

The upper part of the structure was burned through the rafters.

About 30 firefighters from Terrapin, Cornishville and Mercer Central Station put out the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown, Claunch said.
