LANCASTER - A 6-year-old child suffered wounds Saturday after being attacked by a pit bull while playing in her back yard at 104 Sue Barbara Court.
Anita Denny and her cousins were playing with her beagle dog when a neighbor's pit bull broke his chain and came into the yard and attacked the child, said Misty Denny, the girl's mother.
Denny said she was watching the children through a window. The dog apparently dragged the child back to where he had broken his chain. "I screamed at my husband and he tried to get the dog off her," said Denny. "He got the dog off, then it attacked her again. After he freed her the second time, Denny said she got Anita and began cleaning her head with a towel while her husband called the ambulance. The child was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment. She was released Sunday.
