A Louisville man was charged with rape and burglary in connection with an incident Sunday at a residence on Patrician Place, Danville Detective Robert Williamson said this morning.
Danville police were dispatched at 5:30 p.m. Sunday to the Patrician Place residence after receiving a call from someone with a sexual assault report involving a local woman, Williamson said. The suspect had fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended, he said.
The suspect, Lawrence W. Peyton, 26, of 2235 Dumeyville St., Louisville, was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree burglary. He was taken to the Boyle County Detention Center, where he remained this morning, a jail spokesman said. Bond had not yet been set, he said.
The investigation, which is continuing, is being handled by Detective A.J. Mullins, Sgt. Pat McQueen and Officer Sally Bustle.
