If it was not the intent or desire of a recent letter writer to hurt diabetics by calling them fat, lazy, glutton sloths, then why did she? No one, not a physician or someone who can quote the CDC, has the right to categorize diabetics the way the writer did.
I truly hope that the writer or anyone the writer loves never develops this horrible disease. It isn't pleasant to watch someone you love die in your arms like I did with my slim (his entire life) 27-year-old brother. It's horrible to stand at the bedside of your 47-year-old (overweight but not a lazy, glutton sloth) dead brother and wish that he had not suffered such a horrible pain-filled death. It was horrible to watch your 12-year-old (a child - not a fat lazy glutton sloth) niece go to school not feeling well but who by 7 p.m. was fighting for her life in our local ICU. It's horrible knowing that your 33-year-old nephew ( who wouldn't tip the scales at 120 pounds) takes two insulin shots a day.
