Good Friday services at church

ELLISBURG - Good Friday services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Ellisburg Baptist Church, Ky. 78 in Casey County.

Karaoke planned in Perryville

PERRYVILLE - American Legion Post 301 in Perryville will have karaoke from 8 p.m. till midnight Saturday with music by Alan Finley.

Spring walking program to begin

The spring "Walk-It-Off" program will be April 18 through June 29. Register before April 14 by contacting one of the four sponsors: Boyle County extension office, (859) 236-4484; McDowell Wellness Center, (859) 936-9355; Danville/Boyle County Parks and Recreation Department, (859) 238-1233; or the Boyle County Health Department, 236-2053.

The $10 registration fee also provides a choice of a University of Kentucky blue and black gym bag ($50 value) or a light blue T-shirt and a chance to win pedometers and memberships to the William E. "Bunny" Davis Recreation Center.


Participants can walk on their own for 30 minutes three times a week for 10 weeks and/or join in one of several of the four group walks offered at different times of the day and at different locations from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Three "Taste and Talk" classes are available from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday evenings. Topics are: Fast Food Dieting, Separating Fat From Fiction, and the Low-Carb Controversy.

Inter-County plans day at zoo

Inter-County Energy invites the public to help celebrate Earth Day from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 24 at the Louisville Zoo.

Children 11 and under will be admitted free. There will be free giveaways, including a full-color poster titled "The Turtles of Kentucky," which will go to the first 5,000 kids who enter the zoo. Touchstone Energy biologists and other exhibitors will be on hand to give out Touchstone's new environmental trading cards.

DHS needs parent representatives

Danville High School will receive nominations in writing for parent representatives to the 2004-2005 school council until the end of the day Monday. The election will be held from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. April 12 and 8 a.m.-7 p.m. April 13 in the library.|3/16/04|***
